In-Office (chairside) Teeth Whitening

Professional At-Home Teeth Whitening
Professional at-home tooth whitening kits consist of a set of custom moulded dental trays fitted specifically to your teeth, which you use at home with a prescription-strength tooth whitening gel to whiten your teeth several shades over the course of a few weeks. Dr. Beavers offers at-home tooth whitening systems and considers this his preferred method.

Other Tooth Whitening Options:
In addition to the traditional tooth whitening procedures described above, procedures such as tooth bonding and dental veneers can also be used to create whiter teeth. These procedures are frequently useful for patients with stubborn stains and yellowing, or those who have other issues such as cracking, chipping, or slight crookedness.

Over-The-Counter Tooth Whitening Products
With the increasing popularity of over-the-counter tooth whitening procedures, many patients want to know what advantages professional tooth whitening offers them. While over-the-counter tooth whitening products can offer short-term results in many cases, there are a number of drawbacks and limitations to the products. These OTC tooth whitening products are limited to whitening teeth stained by external sources, such as staining from food, beverages, and smoking. They work primarily on the surface have no effect on teeth that have become yellowed due to other causes or have deep staining.

Over-The-Counter tooth whitening kits also tend to be ill-fitting, as the generic trays are not fitted to your mouth. This can cause excess irritation to the gums and lips. With these loose-fitting trays the whitening agent has difficulty reaching in between teeth and tend to only whiten the high points of the teeth.
